Website review: speed, search, accessibility and hosting

We go through the website as it is today and write down what holds it back. Often the answer is a set of fixes, not a new site.

Speed and Core Web Vitals

We measure the pages that matter on a mid-range phone, not only on a fast office connection: load time, layout shifts, image sizes, scripts that block the page and how the server answers. Speed decides how many visitors stay, and Google uses the same measurements in its ranking.

Visibility in Google

Titles and descriptions, headings, internal links, redirects, sitemap, canonical addresses and language versions. We look at which pages actually bring visitors and which ones compete with each other for the same searches. If a rebuild is coming, the guide on changing CMS without losing rankings describes what has to be kept.

Accessibility and forms

Contrast, keyboard navigation, link texts, image descriptions and forms that work with a screen reader. Since June 2025 the European Accessibility Act applies to many consumer-facing services, and the same fixes make the site easier for everyone.

Security, hosting and domains

Certificates, security headers, software versions, backups and where the domain, DNS and email records are managed. Missing SPF, DKIM or DMARC is a common reason why the company's own mail lands in spam; the guide to SPF, DKIM and DMARC explains the records.

Ownership and access

Who holds the domain, the hosting account, the code and the admin logins. A site that only a former supplier can change is a risk regardless of how it looks.

When a rebuild is not needed

Many sites need faster images, clearer pages and correct redirects rather than a new platform. The written recommendation says which fixes give the most for the effort, and when a rebuild is the better choice. Web development covers the case where it is.

Questions we get

Do you need access to our systems for a website review?

Not to begin with. Speed, search visibility, accessibility and headers can be checked from outside. Access to analytics and Search Console gives a fuller picture of what brings visitors.

Does a website review mean we have to build a new site?

No. The review often ends in a short list of fixes on the current site.
